Remove the two rear securing screws for the tank. The left side screw was stuck into the frame, and I started to round-out the allen head on the screw, so I left it in place. The tank slides over a round rubber mount, so if you can move the tank forward and up, you can remove it and leave the screw in place. This lead to a whole lot of extra work, as now I had to remove the dash and headlight assemblies.
Disconnect the fuel electrics and hoses. There are two sets of electrical plugs, tied together. There are also two fuel hoses (supply and return). I did not end up removing the fuel hoses.
