We continue up the canyon, and stop for lunch in Norwood right at noon. Pizza in a small pizza joint provides a tasty break.
There were lots of Italian motorsport memorabilia in the cozy dining area. Ferrari, Ducati, and Campagnolo items were scattered throughout.
After lunch, we continue our ride towards Ridgeway. By now, the sun is blazing over us and temperatures soar into tripple digits. We endure the afternoon heat due to the fun canyon run down into Ridgeway. On my last trip through here, many years ago, I don't recall the canyon starting until after the turn towards Telluride, and I find the unexpected twisties a pleasant surprise.
Upon reaching Gateway, we fuel up at the Shell station then begin the march north towards Montrose and back to Paonia. The sun beats down on us and saps the will to ride. I just want to get to camp, take a shower, and drink a huge glass of water.
